Offset Clips With Screws
Offset clips are the very best way to install canvas paintings
into picture frames. We use these offset clips daily. The various
sizes of offset clips are made because not every picture frame molding
has the same rabbet depth. The 1/8 inch size is very useful. You
can also flatten this one to use with canvas's that are even with
the picture frame frame rabbet Use at least four off set clips per
picture, two on top and two on bottom, and many put another offset
clip on each side of the picture frame. To use, screw the offset
clip into the picture frame moulding using one of the screws put
through one of the holes in the clip. You should not screw any screws
into the art work, or the canvas edges of a painting. Many of the
offset clips now come with two holes in them. The second hole is
used when stacking picture frames or liners. Not many picture framers
do this. We supply one screw for each clip, which is what is normally
used. The large offset clips 3/4 and up are used for canvases that
have wide edges. These have been much requested. It is also possible
to use pliers to bend the angles of the clips to get a tighter or
looser fit, but don't ever tighten so much as to bind the art work
severally. Another way to install canvas paintings into picture
frames is by the use of canvas
stretcher clips at this link.
