Custom Cut Mats - These are pure museum grade rag mats.

Some of you are interested in ordering custom cut mats for your pictures.
We can do this online as long as it is a simple, straight forward picture
cut out. To begin you really should read about matting in our learning
center.
Read the information below the order button. I am putting the order button
at the top of the page to save time for the people returning to this page
to order. This system works very well. Try it out and play with it a while.
Make sure you learn to delete all the boxes below each time you want to
order a "Different" mat, before hitting the add to cart button
again.
Notice: Due to boxing and shipping, We do not cut any mats that measure
larger than 24 x 30 inches. That is our Maximum Size.
In the second box, make sure you enter the Vertical size first, then
the Horizontal size. Example: 8x10 means 8 inches tall by 10 inches wide.
You must put vertical size first or mats will be cut wrong.
When ordering double mats make sure first mat entered is the "top"
mat.

Notice: to give you the best mat pictures possible we have had to increase
the pixel sizes. The mats are all smooth, not rough like some look to
be. Example: the mat Olde Tan is one of our favorites. It is a nice smooth
mat, it is not rough as pictured.
Examples for Field Description 1: 1640 & 1555. The first number
must always be the top mat color/number. The second number
will be the inside mat. If ordering a single mat use only the one number.

Field number 2: this is the cut out opening size then the
outside "glass size" of the mat.
Example: you have an 8 x 10 inch photo to mat. The Opening Size would
be 7 1/2 x 9 1/2. You add three inches of mat all around. Then the "Glass
Size" would be 13 1/2 x 15 1/2. So you would enter it such: 7 1/2
x 9 1/2 by 13 1/2 x 15 1/2. Figure the cutout you need first, then
add as much mat around it as you wish. Vertical measurement first!
We can even fit to frame. If you want a mat with a 7 1/2 x 9 1/2 opening
to fit a 11 x 14 frame. Enter it as such: 7 1/2 x 91/2 to fit 11x14. Make
sure to use the words "to fit".
Make sure you enter the vertical size first, then the horizontal size.
Example: "8x10" would mean 8 inches tall by 10 inches wide.
Field number 3: You must be familiar with united inches by now.
The Long side plus The short side rounded up equals the united
inches. Example: 12 1/2 by 10 1/2 equals 24 united inches. 13x11=24 UI.
All our mats are sold at .40 cents per united inch per mat, "Glass
Size". Take the Glass Size, figure the united inches and multiply
by .40 cents to get your price. This is a super good price for pure
acid free cotton rag mats. We don't think you will find a better price
anywhere.
For Double Mats: Multiply your united inches by .80 for a double mat.
To order double mats just enter both mat numbers in field one. The first
number being the outside mat.
Many times people have trouble figuring mat prices. Its super easy. Another
example. A mat cut anyhow, to a finished glass size of 16 x 20 has 36
united inches in it. 36 united inches x .40 = $14.40 per mat. Don't try
to cheat because our computer will automatically correct the price, and
we reserve the right to correct this price.
Field number 4: enter the number of mats you want. You must enter
at least a 1 for the shopping cart to work. Do not use any words in this
box.
To order more mats you must empty the fields and order again. You will
see all this in your shopping cart. Try the ordering system system out
and play with it a bit. It works great, when done fooling around, just
empty your shopping cart to make your final order.
Notice: if Shopping Cart says EMPTY or Mat is FREE, you have entered
the numbers wrong, usually field number 4. We don't give mats away. You
must correct this field. That field cannot contain any words, only number
such as 1 or 2 or 3 elc.
The only mats we use or sell are archival, acid free museum grade cotton
rag mats. The same mats in use by almost all museums and major galleries.
These are the finest picture mats there are. Most frame shops sell these
mats between .85 cents and 1.20 per united inch per mat.
Note: We are not selling here the common regular mat boards. These are
the very best archival rag mats made in the United States today.
To order a mat we must know two things.
1. We need to know the exact cut out size that you want in the mat. Example,
if you are matting a common 8x10 photo, the cut out would be 7 1/2 x 9
1/2 inches. This allows you to mount the photo on the back side of the
mat and have the mat cover the edges of the photo. This is simple enough.
Just make sure the cut out size you give us will allow your art to be
placed on the backside and have the mat cover the edges of the art. The
numbers must be entered so that the vertical size is first, followed by
the horizontal size always.
2. We need to know the overall size of the mat. Again, this is the "Glass
Size". This is the size required to fit into your picture frame.
This would be the same size that you would use to order a picture frame
from us.
If you are ordering a mat and frame combination, try to make the mats
big enough around the edges so that it looks professional done. Skinny
mats look like an amateur did it. For example I would never use less than
3 inches of mat around any picture 11 by 14 or larger. Read about matting
in our learning center. Be exact, cut mats are not returnable.
We can cut a v groove in your top mat for you if you wish. The v groove
is 15 cents more per united inch and is quite popular. If you want this,
just tell us this in the customer comments box you will find in
the shopping cart when you complete your order.
